Hello, I’m Doug Rohloff — better known in marinas as The Boat Name Guy™.
For years, I’ve been helping boaters bring their vessels to life with names that are bold, meaningful, funny, heartfelt — and above all, unforgettable. Whether it’s a first-time boat owner looking for inspiration or a seasoned captain ready to retire the old name and start fresh, I guide people from that first spark of an idea all the way to a beautifully designed and installed name on their hull.
I’ve spent much of my life on or near the water, working hands-on with vinyl graphics, lettering, signage, and custom nautical accessories. I design it. I print it. And more often than not — I’m the one installing it dockside in the Florida sun, making sure it looks perfect.
In 2025, I poured that experience into a book — Boat Names 101 — a hands-on workbook packed with naming worksheets, puzzles, design tips, superstitions, and space to sketch your dream name. It’s part how-to, part keepsake, and 100% made for the boating community I’ve come to love.
When I’m not at the dock or behind the design desk, you’ll probably find me photographing the water, dreaming up new creative projects for Etsy, or hanging out with Lucy — my 80-pound Golden Retriever and official First Mate. She’s the real boss around here.
